Background

With nearly 20 years experience in building sales and marketing organizations, Ed’s passion for growing teams and businesses is often the most common feedback from investors and colleagues. Spending 17 years at ScentAIr, Ed is commonly considered the most experienced scent marketer in the world. Along with several entrepreneurs Ed helped create and establish a market for commercial environmental scent estimated at over a $1B market cap. And, they built ScentAir into the world’s dominant player in the industry by a wide margin. Ed worked under the sponsorship of 3 Private Equity Firms and for multiple CEO’s contributing significant enterprise value along the way. He held a variety of leadership roles in the sales, marketing, communications and client services areas.

Ed first learned about business and the deal process on summer breaks from UC Santa Barbara working in the commercial real estate department of LA based O’Melveny & Myers LLP. He split his time between doing due diligence for corporate real estate deals during the day and playing music in a number of bands at night. His music career, another passion, took him as far as a ten show tour in Japan in 2004.

Ed Burke currently lives in Charlotte and enjoys spending time with his two sons Charlie and Teddy, and girlfriend Kate. Ed and the boys avidly support the Carolina Panthers, USA Rugby 7’s and Charlotte FC. In his spare time Ed enjoys early morning F3 workouts and serving on the F3 senior leadership committee. He also helps spearhead F3 Freed To Bleed an effort to increase blood donations across the country in partnership with the American Red Cross. It is not uncommon to hear guitar playing from his house on weekends.
